Gemenii in varsta de 10 ani Rebecca si Cecil Wilson nu o agreeaza deloc pe mama lor vitrega Marissa Cortez Wilson, desi tanara femeie, care s-a casatorit cu reporterul de televiziune ce vaneaza spioni Wilbur Wilson si i-a daruit acestuia o fetita, ii trateaza cu afectiune si dragoste si nu face deosebiri intre cei trei copii ai cuplului. Ceea ce nu stiu inteligentii si capriciosii gemeni este faptul ca aparent plictisitoarea sotie a tatalui lor a fost odinioara un agent secret de top in cadrul Organization of Super Spies (OSS) si s-a retras din activitate tocmai pentru a se dedica familiei, fiind chemata inapoi la datorie atunci cand un maniac poreclit Timekeeper ameninta sa preia controlul asupra Terrei si sa opreasca curgerea timpului. Cecil si Rebecca decid sa lase deoparte aversiunea nejustificata fata de mama vitrega si sa o ajute pe aceasta sa reinvie spiritul defunctei divizii Spy Kids din cadrul OSS si sa dejoace planurile diabolice ale villain-ului Timekeeper, sprijiniti fiind cu totii de catre Carmen Cortez si Juni Cortez, doua adolescente care au facut parte in trecut din celebra divizie Spy Kids.
